Dr. Lowey was born and raised in Kamloops, BC. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Cellular, Molecular and Microbiology at Thompson Rivers University in 2006 and his Doctor of Optometry (Deans’ Honors List) in 2011. An educational interest in glaucoma was enhanced at clinics in Waterloo, ON and in New York City, NY. While in New York, Dr. Lowey worked under a glaucoma specialist at the St. Albans VA Medical Center.
Other optometric areas of interest for Dr. Lowey include myopia (nearsightedness) management, specialty contact lenses, ocular disease management and the co-management of refractive surgery.
Dr. Lowey has a special connection to Kamloops Family Vision Clinic as he was a patient of the now retired Dr. Mario Pozza all his life. It was Drs. Pozza and Shamenski who employed him at office in the summers, and then recruited him to join the practice after his graduation.
He is a proud father to his son, Oscar, and husband to his wife, Tammy. When he is not looking at eyes, he enjoys watching movies, reading and spending time outdoors and exploring with his family. In the wintertime you can find him getting his heart broken by the Kamloops Blazers.
